The only degree of its kind in the D.C. metropolitan area, our program prepares you to plan, implement, monitor and revise communication messages and processes within and across organizations. In this interdisciplinary program, you will gain a competitive edge in the growing communication management field as you explore how people inform, influence and persuade each other.

Media & Strategic Communication (Climate & Sustainability Track), MA

Become an expert in the why and how of strategic communication to address critical environmental issues. This specialized track pairs the basics of climate and sustainability science with the hands-on practice of creating compelling advocacy campaigns. Students get a grounding in the function and influence of the media when writing about global environmental challenges.

Organizational Sciences, MA

In pushing the bounds of strategic leadership, this master’s program provides you with a strong foundation in systems thinking as you apply theories of organizational management and effectiveness to real-world objectives like employee retention and workplace culture change. Emerge prepared to successfully manage organizations at the individual, group and environmental levels.

New Media Photojournalism, MA

This first-of-its-kind program incorporates writing, photography, audio, video and web design to enhance your skills as a visual reporter. By combining experimentation with innovative methods of storytelling, documentation and editing, you will be prepared to lead a new generation of photojournalists as the field continues to change with advancing technology and excel in careers in a wide range of visual media, including photography, picture and video editing, documentary production and multimedia management.

Interaction Design, MA

Designed for emerging designers who are passionate about social innovation and ready to tackle complex, systemic problems, this program prepares you to create social change through a systems and human-centered framework. You will be trained to think critically about systems and design solutions that take the form of experiences, services, digital interfaces and/or physical products—all while gaining hands-on experience through cross-disciplinary project work.
